7.4 Assistance with quitting

In the past few decades, the range of aids to assist smokers to quit has increased considerably. Among Victorians who successfully quit in the five years prior to 2005, quitting without help is still common, but many people who succeed in quitting now nominate a range of external sources of help as illustrated in Table 7.1. The table reflects the level of use of aids, not their actual effectiveness among the people who use them.
