Appendix IV: Smoke yield table, 1994
This table shows the tar, nicotine (NIC) and carbon monoxide (CO) content of some of the most commonly smoked cigarettes, in milligrams per cigarette.
Tar: condensed smoke containing many dangerous chemicals, including some that cause cancer.
Nicotine: a poisonous and addictive drug.
Carbon monoxide: a deadly gas which reduces the ability of the blood to carry oxygen.
